Programmarchiv "Weiterbildungsprogramme - Sammlung im Progress - Archiv Berlin-Brandenburg"

The collection ‘Further Education Program Archive Berlin/Brandenburg’, established by Prof. Wiltrud Gieseke in 1995 for the Department of Adult Education/Further Education, contains programs and information material from more than 1100 institutions in Berlin and Brandenburg. The aim of the collection is to reflect the entire spectrum of adult education/further education, taking into account open and closed further education. (presentation of the collection's origin and purpose)

With its unique collection profile, the continuing education program archive provides a unique database for research and teaching on the regional continuing education landscape and program planning activities at different structural and meso or macro didactic levels. The collected material can be used for questions particularly from program research, but also from organisational and addressee research.

The archiving of programs is ongoing and, where possible, begins retrospectively with the year 1990. However, in some institutions, these programs from the years around 1990 were no longer available by 1995. Furthermore, the continuing education market is in a state of constant change. New institutions and offers are emerging, others are disappearing from the market or are undergoing restructurings and continuing in a different form. In terms of forgetting, the adult education program archive can also become a memory for the developments in the adult education landscape.

Access to the archive and the internal database is on site by appointment only, by telephone or in writing, with the archivist Annika Müllner.
